Captain Rohit’s century helps Nepal set 234-run target against UAE

Kathmandu, Oct 30: Nepal has set a target of 234 runs against United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 match, thanks to a brilliant century from captain Rohit Paudel.

Winning the toss and batting first at the ICC Academy Ground in Dubai, Nepal were bowled out for 233 runs in 50 overs.

Skipper Paudel led from the front with an impressive innings, scoring 109 runs off 130 balls, including five fours and one six.

Opener Aasif Sheikh contributed 35 runs off 48 balls, while Aarif Sheikh added 27 runs off 42 balls and Dipendra Singh Airee made 23 off 28 balls.

Similarly, Karan KC scored 13 runs off 8 balls, Kushal Bhurtel managed 7 facing 12, and Bhim Sharki contributed 3 runs off 13 deliveries.

For UAE, Zahid Ali was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 4 wickets, while Junaid Siddique took 3 wickets.

Nepal is seeking its first victory of the series after suffering a 106-run humiliating defeat to the United States in the opening match.

Both the teams have played 17 matches so far under League 2 and remain in the bottom two of the points table. Nepal stands in the 7th position with 12 points while the UAE is in 8th position with 6 points. Having played 22 matches, the USA leads the points table with 34 points so far.

In the previous match held on October 26, Nepal lost to the USA by 106 runs.
