Kathmandu: The main opposition party, Nepali Congress, has said that the Chinese side encroached Nepali territory in western Humla district.
In a press meet at party head office, Sanepa, on Wednesday, NC spokesman Bishwo Prakash Sharma said that the fact finding mission has come up with the conclusion.
The party had formed a committee under the convenorship of Jivan Bahadur Shahi, Central Committee Member, to investigate the possible border encroachment. The party has demanded the government of Nepal to make their formal opinion public.
Spokesperson Sharma said, “The report has mentioned about the encroachment with clear evidences. Chinese side have fenced near to the border pillar, constructed several physical infrastructure inside Nepali territory and one border pillar was recently constructed without consulting Nepali officials. These activities show bad intention of Chinese side.”
He also expressed dissatisfaction over the government’s haste clarification on border dispute. Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs have already stated that there was no border encroachment, however a team of Nepali officials were on their way to Humla.
