China to support Nepal in traditional Archery, Wushu and Wrestling



Kathmandu, Sept 10: Sports Institute of Yunnan University, Traditional Bow Archery Association and Kunming Zhengji Archery Club have expressed their commitment to support traditional Archery, Wushu and Wrestling sports in Nepal.

Prakash Kumar Kusari, a member of the National Sports Council and President of the Nepal Wrestling Association, informed that in a meeting with representatives of the Nepal Wushu Federation, Martial Art Organization of Nepal and the National Sports Council in Yunnan, the head and officials of Yunan University expressed such a commitment.

Abhishek Bikram Shah, Vice President of Nepal Wushu Federation and Rajiv Maharjan, Deputy Secretary General and Senior Coach also participated in the discussion.

After the discussion, a memorandum of understanding was also signed between the two parties to support the development of traditional archery, wushu and wrestling games in Nepal. The memorandum of understanding has been signed by Vice President Shah and Traditional Archery Association Yunan Branch President Kong Weizhong on behalf of the Wushu Federation.

Under the eleven-point memorandum of understanding, exchange of trainers, giving opportunity to Nepali athletes for training by universities and associations, holding at least one program jointly in a year, providing necessary support for the production of new players, cultural exchange and social awareness for the development of traditional archery and wushu and wrestling games. It has been agreed to participate in the competitions and also to conduct sports awareness campaigns in Nepal.

Vice President Shah said that this agreement will help in cultural tourism along with sports. In the discussion, National Sports Council member Kusari expressed his gratitude for China’s continuous support in the field of developing sports infrastructure along with Nepal’s sports and hoped that the support would continue in the future.

Vice President Shah said that if archery and wushu games are taught from the school level, Nepal can get good results in Asian and South Asian sports tournaments as well.

Kong, the president of Traditional Archery Association, reminded that Nepal is a good neighboring country and said that bilateral cooperation will strengthen relations at the people’s level. #wushu #nepal #china #sports
