CIAA takes out Pashupatinath temple’s Jalahari to weigh (photo feature)



Kathmandu, June 25: A team from Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), a constitutional body, has taken out the Jalahari of Pashupatinath temple.

On Sunday evening, the authority’s team took out Jalari from the Pashupatinath temple and started weighing. The Jalahari taken out from the temple is covered with a white cloth and taken to the temple premises. According to CIAA officials,  it’s team has started to weigh the gold-made Jalahari which is nearly 100 kg.

The authority’s team has temporarily installed a CCTV camera for the visual recording of the inspection, while ward representatives of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, the police circle’s Gaushala team, Pashupati Area Development Trust and priests have been stationed at the site.

The issue of weight of Jalahari has attracted widespread controversy both at political and administrative area. Sources claim that the gold was short of nearly 8 kg, and CIAA has been taking this issue as investigation on possible corruption case.
