Kathmandu, June 27: Former Election Commissioner Sudhir Kumar Shah has been arrested in the embezzlement case of Lalita Niwas at Baluwatar, Kathmandu.
The Central Investigation Bureau of Police (CIB) arrested Shah from Kathmandu on Tuesday. Bureau Chief AIG Kiran Bajracharya said Shah was detained during the investigation.
According to the police, Shah was arrested after the investigation revealed that he was involved in taking the land of Lalita Niwas in the name of person(s) by misusing his power while he was in government service.
In the same case, seven people including Shah have been arrested so far on Tuesday. Among those arrested are Bhatbhateni Supermarket Manager Min Bahadur Gurung, former joint secretary Kaladhar Deuja, former deputy secretary Bhupendramani KC, Surendraman Kapali, Dharmaprasad Gautam, Gopal Karki.
