Cold increases along with dip in mercury across Nepal

Kathmandu, Jan 6: As the mercury continues to drop it is getting colder all over the country. Considering the sudden increase in cold in the country including in the federal capital Kathmandu, the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, Weather Forecasting Division has requested one and all to take necessary measures and precautions to avoid it.

Meteorologist at the Division, Sanjeev Adhikari, said the minimum temperature of Kathmandu today is 4.5 degrees Celsius and the maximum is 17 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature in Kathmandu was 3 degrees Celsius on Friday.

Likewise, the minimum temperature is expected to become two to four degrees Celsius on Sunday morning. This morning the visibility of Kathmandu was four kilometers. Although there is light snowfall in the high hilly and mountain regions of Koshi and Gandaki provinces, there will not be any significant change in weather for the next three days.

According to the Division, the lowest temperature is in Jumla at – 5.7 degrees Celsius, which was -6 degree on Friday.

Meanwhile, the weather forecast bulletin issued by the Division states that is currently partial effect of westerly winds in Nepal. The weather is generally clear in the hilly areas of the country including Koshi, Madhes and other parts of the country. There is fog in few places of the Tarai.

In the afternoon, it will be partly cloudy in the hilly areas of Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Karnali provinces. There is possibility of light snowfall in some places of high hilly and mountain areas of Koshi and Gandaki provinces.#Nepal
