Congress to allow Rabi Lamichhane to address in today’s parliament session

Kathmandu, May 10: The main opposition party in the parliament, Nepali Congress, has decided to allow Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane to address in Parliament as a President of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP).

The Congress Parliamentary Party meeting held on Friday morning decided to allow top leaders including Rabi to speak in today’s Parliament session.

The Congress has been obstructing the House of Representatives by demanding the formation of a parliamentary probe committee on Lamichhane in the cooperative scam. Home Minister Lamichhane was taking a position that he should be able to give clarifications in the Parliament on this matter. He has repeatedly denied any involvement in the cooperative scandle.

However, the Congress has alleged that he illegally transferred millions of rupees from  different cooperatives to Gorkha Media Group, in which GB Rai was the Chairman and Rabi as Board Member with shareholder and CEO.

Congress leader Gyanendra Bahadur Karki said that the party has adopted a strategy of allowing Lamichhane to speak as the President of the RSP and as a member of Parliament and blocking the meeting until a parliamentary probe committee is held on the issues raised about him.

The budget session of the Parliament is starting from today.
