Constitution amendment process moves on political consensus: Minister Lekhak

Ramesh Lekhak

Kathmandu, Oct 25: Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has said the government was moving ahead successfully based on the performance and achievements made in the initial 100 days.

Talking to media persons after a meeting of the ruling parties at Prime Minister’s residence, Baluwatar on Friday, Home Minister Lekhak said government was committed to reinforcing the constitutional provisions and ensuring more and more service to people for better livelihood.

Government is working with attentiveness to address the plights of the people who lost relatives and property in the recent disasters. The ruling parties’ meeting also made the common pledges for the sake of people and country, he shared.

According to him, it was a misleading rumour and baseless view to say that government will be changed. The present government is formed with majority, so there is no point in panicking.

Home Minister Lekhak further viewed, “Constitution has adopted an inclusive system. We’ve fully adopted it. We will take ahead the process to amend constitution making it lively and dynamic.”

The positive sides of the exercise of this constitution will be reviewed and political consensus made for amendment, according to him.
Similarly, UML General Secretary Shankar Pokhrel said the seven parties- those in the government and supporting it- reviewed government’s performance in the last 100 days based on the common minimum programme. The government had achieved success in clearing the legal hurdles relating to the transitional justice which had been pending for long.

Even the atmosphere for investment was created, thereby elating businesspersons, he claimed.

The General Secretary made it clear that the investigation on the fraud relating to cooperatives fund was going on smoothly based on the report prepared by the parliamentary special committee.

The meeting has requested all sides concerned to not act in a way that interferes with the investigation process, he informed. #lekhak
