Kathmandu, Feb 20: Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has claimed that the government has introduced six ordinance to create a more conducive environment to attract investments in the country and ensure good governance.
Speaking at the eighth national council of Nepal Financial Institution, affiliated with the Nepali Congress party, in Bhaktapur on Thursday, he emphasized that the ordinance would play a crucial role in streamlining service delivery. He mentioned that although no one has raised objections regarding the content of the ordinance, it has yet to be approved by Federal Parliament due to procedural issues. He asserted that the ordinance is necessary for economic reform and that the government will ensure its approval soon.
He stated, “The IT sector is attracting the new generation. The younger generation sees potential here. To further enhance that potential, we have recently introduced an ordinance. We have brought this ordinance to create a favorable business environment, ensure good governance, and streamline service delivery. I have not seen anyone raising objections regarding the content of the ordinance. However, due to procedural reasons, we have not been able to approve it yet. But we will get it approved soon because it is a necessary step.”
Regarding constitutional amendments, Minister Lekhak clarified that it is not solely the responsibility of Nepali Congress and CPN-UML but requires a consensus among all political parties. He explained that constitutional revisions would be based on the strengths and weaknesses observed during the ten years of its implementation. He further stated that the ruling parties had already agreed to form a task force for constitutional amendments and that dialogue and cooperation with all parties would be ensured.
He remarked, “The ruling coalition parties, Nepali Congress and CPN UML, have agreed to form a task force for this purpose, and it will start its work in a few days. However, the amendment process will not be carried out solely by Congress and UML. We will initiate the process and engage in dialogue with all political parties to bring them into consensus and move forward with the amendment.”
He also emphasized that the current political alignment and government formation aim to ensure good governance and maintain stability in the country. #constitution #nepal #NepaliCongress #CPNUML
