Constitution may face risk: NC General Secretary Koirala

Khotang, Sept 24: Nepali Congress (NC) General Secretary Dr Sashank Koirala has alerted that there was a huge risk of attack on constitution.

In a closing ceremony of the NC’s second nationwide awakening campaign here Tuesday, leader Koirala blamed, “The incumbent government is not going to deliver anything. No development plans have been formulated as of now.”

It’s high time the citizen of Nepal mulled it, he added. Stating that NC is the undaunted party but the factional politics marred it, Koirala underscored the need to publicize the good undertakings and contribution of the NC among the public.

A dozen of cadres leaving their respective political parties entered NC recently in Khotang.

Koirala welcomed them in the oldest democratic party with vermillion and garlands.

Meanwhile, NC’s central committee member Gagan Thapa said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health Upendra Yadav who leads the Federal Socialist Nepal whose party boycotted the celebration while the whole nation was observing the Constitution Day with fervor.

At a press conference organized in Janakpur of Dhanusha district on Tuesday, leader Thapa, who was also former Minister for Health, asserted, “Chief Minister of Province No 2 Lal Babu Raut gave a contradictory statement on the Constitution Day.”

He spoke of the need for the NC to safeguard the constitution that was promulgated in the leadership of NC and also pointed out the need to consider necessary amendments on the national charter.
