‘Contribution of party leaders will be documented’

Kathmandu, June 25: General Secretary of the Nepali Congress, Gagan Kumar Thapa, has said his party would conduct a study on the contribution made by the veteran leaders and cadres for the sake of country, people and the party.

During a programme organized by the Nanda Prasad Januka Foundation here Monday, General Secretary Thapa viewed every leader and cadre in the party has a history that bolstered the party’s role in various political movements. So, they deserve to be documented, he underlined.

Meanwhile, the leader urged all sides concerned in the party for cleanliness. “The party should also evaluate the works of those who were elected but failed to deliver as per expectation,” he reminded, adding, “NC needs to wipe out pollution in the party and pave a way for reform.”

According to him, it is urgency in NC and the Nepali politics to shun the attitude of sticking to power forever.

On the occasion, Chief Whip Ramesh Lekhak said the NC was built on the foundation laid by the leaders and cadres like Nanda Prasad. Before Khaptad Baba went Sudurpaschim, Nanda Prasad and others in Dolakha had got spiritual inspiration from him.

A commemorative book on Nanda Prasad was released on the occasion.

Foundation Chair and NC central member Ajay Shiwakoti highlighted the role Nanda Prasad played for the reform in education, politics and freedom in Dolakha district.

The Foundation also honoured democracy fighters Durga Prasad Upreti and Netra Bahadur Basnet in the programme.
