Kathmandu, June 9: The government has returned the deposits of 216 small depositors of troubled financial cooperatives.
The Problematic Cooperatives Management Committee today returned the savings of small savers of Shiva Shikhar Multipurpose Cooperatives. According to the committee, 216 more depositors of Shiva Shikhar Multipurpose Cooperative have received their savings back today.
The amount received from the loan recovery of troubled cooperatives is being returned to the concerned depositors.
According to the committee, about Rs 46 billion in savings of about 76,000 depositors of troubled cooperatives must be returned. Most of them are small savers.
Those who have a deposit of less than Rs 500,000 are classified as small depositors and those who have savings of more than Rs 500,000 are classified as large savers. Out of the total 76,000, only 18,000 have deposits of more than Rs 500,000, the committee stated.
The committee has stated that so far, 1,313 small depositors have received their savings back.#nepal #rss
