KATHMANDU: CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ asserted that the country was moving ahead towards prosperity in the wake of political changes.
At a seminar organized by Nar Bahadur Karmacharya Memorial Foundation here on Monday, leader Dahal said that there was no truth in the fact that the political parties did not do any good in the wake of political change.
“The constitution had attempted to institutionalize the political changes brought about by longstanding struggle and sacrifice. We should not underestimate it,” Dahal, also former Prime Minister, said.
Stating that thousands of people’s sacrifices and contribution during the 10-year conflict had established federalism, democracy, secularism, inclusive and proportional representation, he argued that it would be injustice to consider that these achievements were not significant.
He also assured that the Constitution of Nepal had provisions for very important fundamental rights to elevate living standards of the Nepalis.”We are not satisfied as we are unable to formulate Acts as per the constitutional provisions.” Dahal claimed that some anti-change elements were on the prowl to scrap the constitution.
Dahal rued that there was no consensus among political leadership to bring about changes and development that the public could feel realize at their own doorstep.
