KATHMANDU: The coronavirus infection has been confirmed in 2,476 people in the last 24 hours.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 9,586 RT-PCR samples were tested and 4,765 antigen test.
Another 27 people have died from COVID-19 infection in the last 24 hours. With this, a total of 8,945 people have lost their lives due to COVID-19 infection.
Similarly, a total of 5,455 people have been recovered or discharged from hospital. According to the ministry, the total number of COVID-19 infections in Nepal has reached 631,152 while 576,413 have been recovered so far.
At present, out of 45,794 active infected people across the country, 42,910 are in home isolation and 2,884 in institutional isolation. Of them, 714 are undergoing treatment in ICUs and 201 in ventilator across the country.
In the age-group category, most of the people affected by COVID-19 infection were from the age group of 60 and above years. Among the total death, 4784 people have lost their life from this age group. Secondly, 1,763 people died from the 50-59 age group.
According to the ministry, 2,500,196 people have received first dose of vaccine and 731,653 have received second dose. The government of Nepal has so far managed to provide India’s Covishield and China’s Sinopharm (Vero Cell) vaccine.
However, nearly 1.5 million old-age people have been waiting for Covishield vaccine as their second dose. But the export ban from government of India had badly affected the Nepal’s effort to inoculate people.
Meanwhile, government of Italy through the European Union’s Civil Protection Mechanism handed over medical supplies that includes 20 ventilators, 6,000 isolation gowns and 10,000 protectives to the government of Nepal.
