COVID-19: 16 dead, 1486 new cases in 24 hours

KATHMANDU: A total of 1,486 new cases of COVID-19 have been detected in the country in the past 24 hours. This was known in 16,539 samples tested including 1149 through RT-PCR and 337 through Antigen method, according to the Ministry of Health and Population.

With this, the number of the COVID-19 infected people has reached 778312, including 315,147 i.e. 40.49 per cent women and 463,164 i.e. 59.51 per cent men.

Likewise, 1,260 recovered during the same period, taking the total number of recoveries to 740,717. The recovery rate stands at 95.2 per cent.

Meanwhile, 16 people succumbed to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. With this, the death toll due to corona virus has reached 10,965 in the country. The case fatality rate is 1.5 per cent.

According to the Ministry, the total number of active cases stands at 26,630. Of them, 24,958 are in home based isolation and 1,672 in institutional isolation including 475 in ICU while 134 are with ventilator support. Another, 262 are in quarantine.

Also today, 91,830 people were vaccinated against COVID-19, taking the total number of people fully vaccinated to 5,198,193 while 5,833,938 people have received the first dose of their two-dose COVID-19 vaccine.
