KATHMANDU: With 266 new cases of the novel coronavirus confirmed on Sunday, the national COVID-19 tally has reached 267,322.
“In 3,508 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the last 24 hours, 266 persons were found infected with SARS-CoV-2,” informed the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) during the regular press briefing.
Of the new infections, 177 cases were recorded in the Kathmandu Valley including nine in Bhaktapur, 23 in Lalitpur and 145 in Kathmandu.
Currently, there are 3,919 active cases of COVID-19 across the nation and 221 persons, mostly those who had returned from abroad, are placed in quarantine.
Of the active patients, 2,837 are placed in home isolation while the remaining are receiving treatment in various institutional isolations. Likewise, 157 COVID-19 patients are admitted to the ICU and 39 are receiving treatment with the ventilator facility.
Meanwhile, 400 COVID-19 patients receiving treatment in institutional isolation or staying in home isolation recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours. Nepal has now recorded 261,444 cases of recoveries.
Moreover, five persons succumbed to the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours. With this, Nepal’s COVID-19 death toll has reached 1,959.
