KATHMANDU: A total of 8,167 new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in the past 24 hours in the country. This was revealed in a total of 18,548 tests including 17,971 RT-PCR tests and 577 Antigen tests done in 88 various laboratories around the country.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, during the period a total of 5,455 people have recovered.
Unfortunately, 187 people lost their lives in the last 24 hours.
This takes the total number of positive cases to 447,704 and fatalities to 4,856. The total recoveries have reached 333,108 with a recovery rate of 74.4 per cent.
The total confirmed cases in isolation are 109,740 with Kathmandu constituting 30,124 of them followed by 5,000 in Bhaktapur and 7,101 in Lalitpur. Among the age group of active cases, people between 30 to 39 years old are the highest with 1,927 followed by 1,749 in the 20-29 age group and 1,456 in 40-49 age group.
Of them, 101,771 people are in home-based isolation while 7,969 are in institutional isolation. Furthermore, 1,331 patients are in ICU while 370 infected are in ventilator support.
The data of infection and fatalities so far shows a positivity rate of 16.3 per cent and case fatality rate of 1.4 per cent. Total death per million is 166.7.
