KATHMANDU: A further 3,075 corona virus infections have been confirmed in the last 24 hours across the country.
This is more by 631 than the number of newly infected people seen on Tuesday. And among the new infections confirmed today, 1,538 were found in the Kathmandu Valley.
The new infections were confirmed through 9,051 RT-PCR tests and 3,985 by antigen method, according to the Ministry of Health and Population. The infection rate during this period is 27 percent.
During the same period, 278 people recovered from corona.
Currently, the number of active infected is 11 thousand 690.
In the last 24 hours, two people have died from corona, the ministry said.
There are 1,128 active infections in Kathmandu, 236 in Lalitpur and 134 in Bhaktapur.
There are 10,910 in home isolation, 880 in institutional isolation and 695 in institutional quarantine.
Among those undergoing treatment, 22 people are on ventilators and 87 in the ICU. Meanwhile, a total of 214,057 people took COVID-19 vaccine today.
Ministry spokesperson Dr Sangeeta Mishra said at the regular press briefing that the government is expanding the vaccination program.
She said that the target of vaccinating two-thirds of the people by mid-December in Bagmati and Gandaki has been achieved.
She also shared that the citizens who have been vaccinated earlier will be given booster dose from the third week of January.
The booster dose will be the same type of vaccine administered earlier.
