Kathmandu, Nov 21: The CPN (UML) today unveiled the controversial central “command” of the National Volunteer Force (NVF) at a ceremony held in Babarmahal, Kathmandu.
The announcement was made during a programme organized by the UML Coordination Mechanism of People’s Organizations, attended by UML Chair KP Sharma Oli, senior leaders, and representatives from all seven provinces.
An 11-member leadership team has been formed under the command of Pushparaj Shrestha. Coordinator Bhanu Bhakta Dhakal announced the names of the central secretariat and central committee members, which include co-coordinator Keshav Roka and members Lava Adhikari Yadav, Jaya Ram Lama, Bidur Sharma, Sagar Bhatt, Sanjiv Dhital, and Binita Kafle.

Administering the oath to the newly formed NVF, Chair Oli—also a former Prime Minister—said the Force will work to protect and assist people during crises and disasters. He noted that the NVF has been established not against any individual or group, but to oppose violence and anarchy. He stressed that it will help safeguard public property and secure industrial establishments while coordinating with security agencies and social organizations.
Chairman Oli reiterated the party’s position that the political deadlock in the country can be resolved through the reinstatement of the dissolved House of Representatives.
Addressing the event, leader Dhakal stated that the Force will include representatives from various party-affiliated mass organizations as well as individuals who have previously served in those bodies.
Similarly, UML Politburo member Mahesh Basnet emphasized that the NVF will prioritize social security initiatives. #uml #nepal
