CPN UML lawmaker Koiri suspended

Kathmandu, May 2: The federal parliament secretariat has suspended House of Representatives member, Laxmi Mahato Koiri, on Tuesday.

General Secretary of the federal parliament, Dr Bharat Raj Gautam, informed that Speaker Devraj Ghimire suspended CPN UML lawmaker Koiri.

Koiri was suspended as per Rule 248 (c) of House of Representatives Regulation, 2079 on the basis of letter written by the Nepal Police.

A murder accused Koiri, had to be remanded to custody for further investigation as per Criminal Offense Procedure, 2074. Order to this connection was issued by the High Court, Janakpur. The High Court had issued order on December 4, 2020. But, Koiri was absconding after the order.

Speaker Ghimire decided to suspend Koiri based on the letter submitted by Nepal Police Headquarters to the parliament secretariat.
