CPN UML politburo meeting: Chair Oli critical over Prachanda

Kathmandu, Sept 3: The annual plan of action the CPN (UML) was presented in today’s politburo meeting of the party.

UML general-secretary Shanker Pokharel presented the party’s annual action plan in the meeting held at the party central office in Lalitpur (Chyasal) presided over by its chair KP Sharma Oli, informed party’s publicity department chief Rajendra Gautam.

According to party sources, Chairman Oli briefed about the party strategies and criticised the CPN Maoist Centre, particularly the views expressed by Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’. “Prachanda was trying to derail the outcome of the federal democratic values.”

Oli further commented that Prachanda’s role is not correct. A Politburo member said, quoting Oli’s words, “After dismissed from the prime minister, Prachanda’s work has been to elevate disaffected people and inflame the situation”.

Oli said that Prachanda’s speech in the House of Representatives meeting on Bhadra 11, 2081BS was of a nature to cause chaos. Prime Minister Oli said, “As the example of Bangladesh and Sri Lanka was spoken in the House, it was not the language spoken by a responsible leader”.

Another member of the Politburo said that Prachanda’s desire to create chaos will not be fulfilled.

Prime Minister Oli said that he should be aware of Prachanda’s role and efforts and move forward. In particular, he gave confidence to the leaders that there would be no problem in the government led by him.

The action plan includes party membership, expansion and documentation, regular conventions of the party and people’s organisations, evaluation of party committees and leaders and cadres, he said.

“Emphasis has been laid on whether the party will complete the tasks given by the committee, whether it is active. It has also been included in the action plan to evaluate whether the party committees are running in a lawful manner,” Gautam said.

Similarly, the action plan also includes effective mobilization of the government and people’s representatives and reaching out the works done by the government to the people’s level.

All politburo members are scheduled to air their views tomorrow. The action will be disclosed after finalizing based on the recommendations of the politburo members, Gautam said. #UML #nepal
