KATHMANDU: The meeting of the ruling CPN (UML) Standing Committee is taking place this morning. The meeting has been repeatedly postponed as of late.

The meeting is taking place at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar. The latest political developments and the internal issues of the party are the agenda of the meeting, according to UML office secretary Sher Bahadur Tamang.

The leaders will also dwell on the forthcoming General Convention of the party.

The KP Sharma Oli led CPN (UML) is facing multiple challenges both from internal party conflicts and government loss in court cases.

A section of senior leaders including Madhav Kumar Nepal and Jhala Nath Khanal have joined opposition alliance while PM Oli’s latest cabinet reshuffle was overturned by the country’s apex court.

Likewise, a series of ordinances, including Citizenship ordinance, forwarded by the government were overturned by the court.

There remained yet another court case pending in the Supreme Court. The SC Constitutional Bench have been hearing on dissolution of the Parliament.
