Butwal: The main opposition CPN UML Vice Chairman Bishnu Prasad Poudel has said that his party will move forward to provide leadership to the country.

Vice Chairman Poudel made this comment when the results of the votes of only some constituencies of the House of Representatives and the Provincial Assembly are yet to be announced. Elected as a member of the House of Representatives from Rupandehi Constituency No. 2, he spoke briefly to the local media in Butwal on Monday morning and mentioned that UML should play a leading role in speeding up the country’s development, prosperity and justice campaign.

In order to maintain political stability in the country, Vice Chairman Poudel made it clear that although his party went to the elections with the agenda of forming a majority government, it did not receive the corresponding mandate. He repeatedly reiterated that his party will play a strong and effective role in the federal parliament and provincial assemblies in terms of moving the nation forward.

Vice Chairman Poudel said, “In this election, CPN-UML went with the confidence, clear agenda, moving the country forward, and solving the problems of the people and the nation. Above all, we wanted political stability in the country. The issue was to form a majority government under the leadership of CPN-UML for political stability. However, we have to accept that it was not possible for us to get a majority. We respect this manifest mandate. We will accept it. And we will proceed accordingly.”

“One truth is that the country cannot move forward until CPN-UML takes the lead role in national politics. The country cannot get rid of the cycle of instability. Past experiences have also made it clear that the campaign for development, prosperity and social justice cannot gain momentum in a situation of political instability. Therefore, we take the initiative to provide leadership to the country as much as we can in this available situation. Accordingly, our role remains.”

Vice Chairman Poudel expressed his gratitude to voters of Rupandehi Constituency No. 2 and expressed his commitment to work for their prosperity.
