CPN (UML) wins in Madi municipality of Sankhuwasabha

The CPN (UML) candidates have won the local election in Madi municipality of Sankhuwasabha district. Jeevan Lingthep of UML has been elected the mayor of the municipality by securing 4,331 votes.

As per the final results of the vote counting declared today, Lingthep got victorious to the post by a margin of 1655 votes as against his closest contender Dawa Chhatra Sherpa of the CPN (Maoist Center), a candidate on behalf the ruling coalition, who bagged 2,676 votes.

Similarly, UML’s Sunita Devi Bhattarai has won the election to the post of deputy-mayor. She bagged 4,110 votes while her closest competitor Pasang Sherpa of the Nepali Congress got 3,228.

The UML had won the post of mayor and deputy mayor in Madi municipality in the 2017 local election as well.
