DAO, Jajarkot resumes services in makeshift structures



Jajarkot, Nov 22: The District Administration Office, Jajarkot has started working from makeshift structures after an earthquake damaged the structure it was operating from.

An earthquake measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale and with its epicenter at Ramidanda of Barekot rural municipality-1 struck Jajarkot on November 3.

The historic Jajarkot Palace housing the DAO was damaged by the quake. According to Chief District Officer, Suresh Sunar, the DAO services were resumed from the makeshift structures since Friday.

Earlier, the DAO services were being rendered from the 228-year-old Seto Durbar (white palace) and the 275-year-old Rato Durbar (red palace). The palace that resisted three major earthquakes suffered massive damages this time. The makeshift structures were built with the use of tents. Meanwhile, the Disaster Management Fund has allotted Rs 12.7 million to 49 families of 77 people who were killed in the quake. RSS
