Kathmandu, April 10: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has stressed the need of achieving national goals through collaboration between the government and the private sector.

Addressing the inaugural session of the 59th Annual General Meeting of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) here today, PM Oli expressed happiness over the resolution that ‘we can and should do something’.

He made it clear that the government was ready to support the private sector as it was moving ahead with confidence for development and prosperity. The collaboration between the government and the private sector is moving forward as a model. Together we should build our country. We need to develop at a fast pace.

We should be proud to increase the use of indigenous goods,” he said, adding that the private sector should inspire the government. There is no need for any movement for this. This government is formed for stability, good governance and development.

Prime Minister Oli said that the existing system has been established to provide services and facilities to the people and the present government is moving ahead to increase production and productivity by strengthening this system. He clarified that the government has been formulating policies and laws based on the suggestions given by the private sector.

On the occasion, the best province and district committees of the Federation and sector-wise companies were honoured for paying high taxes. Addressing the same event, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr Arzu Rana Deuba, said that the aspirations for economic development and progress were possible only through the participation of private sector.

She said the incumbent government was focused on building and upgrading big infrastructures to meet the aspirations of the people for economic development despite lack of resources. “The present government has been formed to remove the political instability which is seen as an obstacle to economic development and prosperity,” she said.

Pointing out that there was no need to be discouraged as there was some shortage of foreign aid in the recent past, Minister opined that a conducive environment should be created for domestic and foreign investment in the country.
“Since the formation of this government, the process of amending acts and laws that hinder economic prosperity has been going on,” she said, adding that the country could not achieve prosperity if good governance and the private sector did not work.

Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Damodar Bhandari said the government has continued policy reforms to make the investment atmosphere more conducive. Minister Bhandari shared that the special initiatives have been taken to make the investment-related acts and laws time compatible, make single point service effective and attract foreign investment.

On the occasion, FNCCI President Chandra Prasad Dhakal said the private sector should take the lead in economic prosperity and development. He said that the first priority should be to allow the private sector to work freely to meet the goal of prosperity put forward by the government.

Unless we create decent and high-wage employment opportunities within the country, despair cannot be turned into hope. The current frustration is the result of that,” he said.

On the occasion, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli felicitated entrepreneurs from different walks of life. Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Security Sharat Singh among other high-ranking government officials and heads of various private sector organisations were present on the occasion.#nepal #political #rss
