Discussion on cooperation in education between Nepal and Ireland



Kathmandu, Jan 11: Discussions have been held between Nepal and Ireland to increase cooperation and collaboration in the field of education between the two countries.

The discussion was held between members of parliament and visiting Irish delegation led by Chairperson of the Upper House of Ireland Jerry Buttimer, who is on a five-day visit to Nepal. At the programme organised by the Federal Parliament secretariat, matters relating to exchange of experiences on quality education, standardized examination, innovation, research, youth mobilization, etc. were discussed.

On the occasion, Chair Buttimer said that the quality and standard of education can be raised and new possibilities can be explored in the field of higher education through collaboration between the community and the civil society.

Chairperson of the Education, Health and Information Technology Committee of the House of Representatives, Bhanubhakta Joshi, shared about school education bill that the Committee is considering to increase the quality of school education.

Vice-Chancellor of Kathmandu University Prof Dr Bhola Thapa, Federal Parliament Secretariat Secretary Dr Rojnath Pandey and President of Higher Institutions and Secondary Schools’ Association Nepal (HISSAN) Ramesh Silwal apprised the Irish delegation about the education and academic activities in Nepal, while expressing the interest to follow good international practices of education.
