District Attorney files case against Durga Prasain on cyber crime

Kathmandu, Dec 11: A cyber crime case has been filed against controversial medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai at the Kathmandu District Court. The District Attorney’s Office has demanded a seven-year prison term as part of the legal proceedings.

The case was filed based on a report by the Nepal Police’s Cyber Bureau, which led to Prasai’s arrest. He is currently in police custody. Authorities detained him on charges of creating a fake video alleging the Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s involvement in an investment in a Cambodian telecom company.

Prasai is also under investigation by the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) for offenses including criminal breach of trust and organized crime. The CIB has uncovered evidence suggesting his involvement in orchestrating extortion schemes and hiring individuals to issue threats or carry out contract killings. Investigations are ongoing, with the authorities citing substantial evidence of his activities. #nepal #crime #cyber
