Kathmandu, June 26: The Kathmandu District Court has issued an order cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane to pay medical expenses for Gaushala 26 (a given name for the victim of rape charges) on Monday.

The bench of District Court Judge Prakash Prasad Pandit has ordered to pay the treatment expenses to Gaushala 26 as interim relief from the victims’ relief fund.

Gaushala 26 filed an application in the district court demanding that Sandeep get the compensation for the expenses incurred during physical and mental health treatment. She had submitted a bill saying that about Rs. 70,000 had been spent. After submitting the hospital’s bank statement, the court ordered to provide Rs. 1 lakh for the treatment expenses.

Sandeep’s lawyers had argued in the defense of the petition that they cannot ask for compensation without declaring rape.

Sandeep is currently in Zimbabwe to play for World Cup Cricket Qualifier match. He is expected to return on July 8.
