DPM Singh underscores on making cargo trade easier



Kathmandu, July 29: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Urban Development, Prakash Man Singh, has expressed the government’s readiness to bring about the necessary policy and structural change to ease the cargo trade for export promotion.

Addressing a programme organized by Nepal Freight Forwarders’ Association marking the 30th Cargo Day here today, DPM Singh asserted that the monetary policy issued after the formation of the incumbent government proved that the government encourages the industrial enterprises, and trade and business. He also urged the entrepreneurs to goad the government for promptly addressing the problems faced in business.

On the occasion, DPM Singh honoured the organizations and individuals including Sundar Prasad Dahal, Ashish Gajurel, Cathy Cargo and Nepal Airlines, among others, making a notable contribution to Nepal’s cargo trade last year.

Lawmaker Ganesh Parajuli said that the government should be conscious towards the withdrawal of various facilities that Nepal has been getting now in export trade while it transitions from a least developed country status to a developing country status.

Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) Vice-President Hemraj Dhakal said the cargo entrepreneurs have been distressed by various impractical tax and urged the government to remove these to promote the export industry.

President of Freight Forwarders’ Association, Manoj Adhikari underscored the need of timely changes to the multi-modal transport-related Act and Regulations.
