Kathmandu, Feb 21: The Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Balendra Shah, has requested US President Donald Trump to stop the Diversity Lottery (DV) system calling it a modern-day slavery.
In a post on social media, he argued that the American people cannot build their country alone, as they rely on the rest of the world for support. He further stated, “Ban the rest of the world from your country, and let the world grow.”
After winning a second term in office, President Donald Trump has pledged to deport millions of undocumented immigrants, those staying illegally, and criminals back to their home countries. Reports indicate that the USA is preparing to deport nearly 1,700 individuals. The new US administration has already started deportations, including individuals from India, Mexico, and other South American countries.
During a recent parliamentary session, some lawmakers raised the issue and labeled it as serious human rights violation.
