Kathmandu, Feb 28: Out of the complaints received so far by the Central Code of Conduct Monitoring Committee, clarification has been sought on 94 complaints.
The Election Commission (EC) has stated that responses have been received from 57 of the political parties and candidates asked for clarification.
The Commission has also stated that further study of the 57 responses received is underway. So far, clarifications have been sought from 88 people and further clarification from six people, the Legal Officer at the EC, Mohan Raj Joshi, told RSS.
He stated that the Commission took action against eight people after they failed to furnish satisfactory answers, even after repeatedly asking for clarification.
The Commission has also requested explanations from political parties, candidates, government and non-government organisations, media outlets and journalists who have received complaints of violating the election code of conduct.
Joshi said that letters have been sent, through the Press Council Nepal, to the registered media outlets and journalists associated with them for clarification and other actions.
According to him, Setopati Online, which published news content, based on opinion polls in the name of election analysis claiming that certain parties and candidates are being elected, has also been asked for clarification through the Press Council.
Complaints against violations of election code of conduct have been received even at the district level, and necessary action is being taken on them.
The Commission is advancing the necessary inquiry and action process on complaints received in order to ensure effective implementation of the election code of conduct and to minimise violations.
Law Officer Joshi stated that for the effective implementation of the Code of Conduct, the Central Code of Conduct Monitoring Committee, the District Code of Conduct Monitoring Committee, the District Code of Conduct Monitoring Officer, and the concerned election offices are operational.
Regarding the complaints received at the district level, the Commission’s legal officer Joshi mentioned that explanations were sought, responses were demanded, and legal action was initiated against those found guilty from the district level itself.
The Commission has stated that out of 1,076 complaints received from across districts so far, 1,061 have been resolved.
Joshi also stated that more complaints regarding violations of the Election Code of Conduct, 2026 by political parties and candidates have been received in the districts of Lumbini Province. #nepal #rss
