Kathmandu, May 22: Eight different people have applied for the post of Chairman of the Electricity Regulatory Commission. Today was the last day to apply for the vacant post.
According to the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, outgoing Chairman Dilli Bahadur Singh, Dr. Ram Prasad Dhital, Moti Bahadur Banwar, Dr. Madhusudhan Adhikari, Krishna Singh Basnet, Chandra Singh Sayad, Arjunjung Thapa and Kusheshwar Prasad Sah have applied for the post.
Similarly, Jairam Bhandari, Chudamani Chapagain, Dr. Madhusudan Adhikari, Suresh Bahadur Bhatta, Bhagirathi Bhattarai Gyawali, Krishna Singh Basnet, Shakuntala Dhakal Marhattha, Jhamak Prasad Sharma, Kusheshwar Prasad Sah, Dr. Suryakumar Sapkota and Jenny Puri have applied for the post of commission member.
The ministry had issued a public notice on Baisakh 26, 2081 BS to submit applications within 15 days. According to the notification, applications were made for one Chairman and three members. The commission is active as a regulatory body in the country’s energy sector. The term of office of the Chairman and members of the commission is five years.
