Expo of Nepali handicrafts in Kerung

Kathmandu, Oct 22 :  An exhibition and fair of Nepali traditional handicrafts has kicked off in Kerung the Chinese town close to the Nepal-China border. The event aims to promote the Nepali handicrafts and find a better market for them.

The fair kicked off on October 19 will run until October 25.  It is organised by the Federation of Handicrafts Associations of Nepal and is supported by Kerung’s local government.

Metal idols, Pashmina products, Thanka, textiles, garments and silver ornaments among others are put on the expo, Federation deputy director Rhishiraj Subedi said.

The main objective of the festival is to find a better market for Nepali handicrafts in China, according to him.

Twenty-five Nepali companies and farms have taken part in the fair. Similarly, ‘B to B’ discussions are the part of the fair.

The Federation believes that Chinese President Xi Jinping’s recent Nepal visit and the Nepali handicrafts expo in Chinese territory has helped further strengthen the bilateral ties.
