Kathmandu, April 16: The government has decided to recommend to President Ramchandra Paudel to convene the session of the Federal Parliament on Baisakh 12 (April 25).
Minister for Education, Science, and Technology, Bidya Bhattarai, informed that the cabinet meeting decided to call the regular session of the Federal Parliament at 1 PM on April 25. The session has been called primarily to pass the School Education Bill, which is currently under consideration in the Parliament Committee.
The Cabinet also decided to coordinate and facilitate necessary efforts from the government’s side to ensure the bill is passed. For the past two weeks, teachers have been protesting in the capital with various demands. The government has clarified that the session is being convened in response to those demands.
“Government Sensitive to Teachers’ Demands”
The government has clarified its willingness to address the demands raised by teachers. On Tuesday’s Cabinet meeting, it was stated that the government is ready for dialogue with the Nepal Teachers’ Federation and is sensitive to the issues raised.
According to Minister Bidya Bhattarai, dialogue is ongoing regarding the demands raised by the Federation, and the government remains open and committed to continued discussions. She assured that the government is ready to address the legitimate demands of the teachers.
Minister Bhattarai also stated that the government is seriously concerned about the ongoing protests called by the Federation. Considering the student enrollment period, the examining of SEE answer sheets, and the timing of the national examinations for Grade 12, the Cabinet has urged all teachers to suspend protest programs and return to their respective workplaces in the interest of students and parents.
The teachers have vowed to continue their protests unless the government listened their demands. #nepal #teacher #protest
