Lalitpur, May 8: Newly elected president of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), Anjan Shrestha, has announced a “6 Pillars, 60 Initiatives” programme aimed at strengthening the private sector, improving the investment climate, and modernising the federation during his three-year tenure.

Speaking at an introductory and interaction programme with newly elected office-bearers after assuming office on Thursday, Shrestha said the framework prioritises the long-term interests of the private sector and institutional strengthening of the FNCCI.

“I have prepared the ‘6 Pillars, 60 Initiatives’ programme with priority given to creating an investment-friendly environment and strengthening the collective voice of the private sector,” Shrestha said.

According to him, the programme will be implemented in phases through detailed action plans over the next three years.

The initiative focuses on protecting the rights and interests of the private sector, promoting industries and businesses, expanding investment security, and strengthening policy advocacy.

It also aims to improve coordination with member organisations under the federal structure, modernise service delivery through digital systems, promote youth entrepreneurship and innovation, and expand international trade and economic diplomacy.

Outgoing FNCCI president Chandra Prasad Dhakal said the federation should continue focusing on policies that support private sector growth and economic prosperity.

He noted that during his tenure, the government endorsed the Private Sector Protection and Promotion Programme (PSPPP) proposed by the FNCCI, which he said would help safeguard and promote private enterprises.

Former FNCCI president Mahesh Lal Pradhan stressed the need for the federation to play a stronger role in creating an industry- and business-friendly environment.

He said the federation should not only advise the government on economic development but also develop the capacity to question government policies when necessary.

Similarly, former FNCCI president Bhawani Rana urged closer cooperation between the government and private sector to drive economic growth and prosperity. #Nepal
