KATHMANDU, Dec 13: The Special Court, Kathmandu, has remanded former Chief Commissioner of the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) Deep Basnyat to judicial custody.
A bench of Chairperson of the Special Court Premraj Karki and judges Abdul Aziz Musalman and Nityananda Pandey issued an order for the same, according to Spokesperson at the Special Court, Pushparaj Pandey.
Basnyat, accused of his involvement in grabbing a government land at the Lalita Niwas at Baluwatar, Kathmandu, was produced before the Court today where the Court had recorded his statement.
CIAA, the anti-graft body, on 5 February, 2020 had lodged a corruption case against a total of 110 people including four ministers and three former secretaries of the government of Nepal for their alleged involvement in acquiring 112 ropanis of government land and transferring the ownership of the land in various persons’ name.
