Fund established for research of rheumatism, heart disease

Kathmandu, Sept 28 : Senior cardiologist Dr Prakash Raj Regmi has established the ‘Rheumatism, Heart Disease Research Fund’ in a bid to assist in the study, research and prevention of rheumatism and heart disease.

He has provided Rs one million to the Fund to be operated by the Nepal Heart Foundation. There is a target of reaching the Fund size to Rs 10 million by the next 10 years. Lately, rheumatism and heart disease cases are on the rise in Nepal, suggesting the need of people’s awareness, more research and prevention measures towards that end, Regmi said.

The interest of Fund will be spent in research projects and prevention measures and to award people or organisations working the related field.   It is estimated that one percent children in Nepal have rheumatism and heart diseases issues.
