Pokhara: Chief Minister of the Gandaki Province, Khagaraj Adhikari has secured vote of confidence in the province assembly.
Chief Minister Adhikari received 31 votes in the 60-member province assembly while 27 province assembly members voted against the vote of confidence motion.
As informed, 21 province assembly members from CPN-UML, eight from CPN (Maoist Centre) and two from Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) had voted in favour of Adhikari’s vote of confidence motion.
Twenty seven assembly members from Nepali Congress (NC) had voted against the motion. Mitralal Basyal who was elected the province assembly member on behalf of CPN-UML did not participate in the voting as he was chairing the session.
Likewise, independent province assembly member Rajib Gurung was not present in the meeting.
Adhikari, also the parliamentary party leader of the UML Gandaki province, was appointed as the chief minister on January 9.
