Bara, Nov 21: Dialogue has continued between representatives of the Gen-Z movement and the local administration at the Armed Police Force headquarters, Rudrabahini, in Pathlaiya.
According to Purushottam Bhattarai, Assistant Chief District Officer of Bara, eighteen individuals—including Bara coordinator Samrat Upadhyay from the Gen-Z group, Chief District Officer Dharmendra Kumar Mishra, and chiefs of various security agencies—are participating in the talks on behalf of the local administration.
The district had witnessed heightened tension following clashes between Gen-Z activists and CPN (UML) cadres in Simara, prompting the local administration to impose a two-day curfew. Gen-Z protesters accused UML cadres of assault and demanded action against those responsible. In response, police arrested three individuals in connection with the incident.
As of this morning, the situation in Bara has largely returned to normal, with transportation services fully restored, the District Administration Office confirmed.
Meanwhile, individuals injured during the Gen-Z demonstrations on September 8–9 staged a sit-in at Maitighar, Kathmandu, on Friday. They demanded accountability for the use of force during the protests and called for justice.
The demonstrators also stressed the need to combat corruption and promote unity among Gen-Z groups. They clarified that they are not opposed to any particular political party but urged the government to address the grievances and aspirations of the Gen-Z community. #nepal #bara #genz rss
