Kathmandu, Sept 27: Global Nepal, a non-government organisation, is helping thousands of people from the marginalized communities in Dhading, through its targeted programmes.
The organisation has been contributing to economic empowerment and improving livelihoods of the poor and vulnerable communities, thereby helping bridge the gap between the rich and poor and create more resilient local economy.
Founded in 2023, Global Nepal’s goal is to foster inclusive growth and sustainable development through grassroots initiatives and capacity-building efforts.
To this end, Global Nepal is running three programmes: Rural Women Economic Assistance Program (RWEAP), Economic Planning and Poverty Alleviation Program (EPPAP) and Women Economic Empowerment Program (WEEP).
RWEAP focuses on providing financial and technical support to rural women, helping them establish small businesses and gain financial independence while EPPAP works to develop strategic economic plans and implement policies that alleviate poverty in rural areas, ensuring long-term growth and development. The programme promotes sustainable farming practices that contribute to local economic stability.
WEEP aims to equip women with leadership skills and economic tools necessary for their active participation in Nepal’s economy. WEEP will drive women’s involvement in key economic sectors, especially agriculture and small-scale entrepreneurship.
“Inclusive growth is the key to improving livelihoods and leading dignified lives. Through collaborative efforts and a commitment to inclusive development, Global Nepal has successfully implemented impactful initiatives that address the pressing needs of communities, fostering economic development and improving livelihoods across the region,” said Global Nepal’s Executive Director Narayan Kumar Shresthá.
Emphasizing on the transformative power of economic development initiatives for the underprivileged in Nepal, he said, “The organization also offers scholarships to students from underprivileged backgrounds, supports impoverished children in their education, and teaches skills in child grooming classes.”
According to him, Global Nepal is also promoting hygiene awareness, organizing various literary and creative workshops, conducting leadership volunteer camps, running social awareness programmes, implementing health and sanitation initiatives, and assisting with remote healthcare services, among many other efforts.
