Kathmandu, Dec 4: Prime Minister Sushila Karki has said the government is fully prepared for the upcoming election and is working to ensure it is held on the announced date.
Speaking at a programme organised by the Jyapu Culture Development Trust on the occasion of the 22nd Jyapu Day today, the Prime Minister said the government is committed to accelerating national development by handing over leadership to the younger generation through the election scheduled for March 5, 2026.
“The September 8–9 Gen Z movement was a major lesson for us,” she said, calling on all stakeholders to address the sentiments raised by the movement.
“It is the primary responsibility of the government to conduct the election on March 5, 2026, and hand over power to the youth force,” she said, adding that necessary preparations are underway and expressing hope for support from all citizens.
The Prime Minister also highlighted the important role of local governments in promoting cultural traditions and festivals conducted by more than 5,000 Guthis, pledging continued government support for their preservation and promotion.
Extending her best wishes on Jyapu Day, she stressed the need for authorities to pay special attention to safeguarding Nepal’s unique heritage by strengthening the link between culture and tourism. #nepal #jyapu #newar
