Lalitpur, Dec 18: Vice President Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav has highlighted the need of collaboration and coordination between the government and private sector for country’s development.
At the ‘Gorkhapatra Discourse; programme organized by Gorkhapatra Corporation in coordination with Gorkhapatra Academy to increase dialogue with private sector for sustainable development of economy, Vice President Yadav said it was positive to debate on Nepal’s economic resilience, investment related discussion, future development strategy, smart infrastructure development and management, and confidence of private sector among others through Gorkhapatra discourse.
“I have an optimism that the debate and discussion would come to a concrete conclusion by analyzing the country’s overall economic situation, challenges and possibilities as well as the government’s efforts and private sector’s expectation.
I hope it would also discuss the issues, including Nepalese economy and policy reforms following the Gen Z Uprising”, the Vice President said. He underlined the need for the government and the private sector to move ahead in tandem.
The Vice President said that the Gen Z movement was waged with demands, including transparency, good governance, corruption free society, easy public service delivery and creation of employment opportunities within the country and expressed the confidence that the Gorkhapatra discourse would be spectacular for charting out the future course of action after the movement.
Gorkhapratra is a live document of the history, he said, adding that its contributions are special also in strengthening the national unity.
He empathized the need of mobilizing the capital dumped in the bank and financial institutions for economic development.
The Vice President expressed his confidence that increased investment in agriculture and tourism would contribute to spur economy.
He further said that journalism should reach the voices of the people to the policy-making level. “Private sector is the enabler of economic sector. Journalism should contribute in a way to uptake the people’s voice to the policy level”, he emphasized.
He laid focus on creating a shared forum of private sector, experts, policy-makers and stakeholders for high-level national debate about economic restoration, investment environment and future development strategies. —
