Government sending relief aid to quake-hit Myanmar

Kathmandu, April 8: The government is sending relief materials including food items, medical supplies, clothes, tarpaulins, tents and garment to quake-hit Myanmar.

The relief supplies were collected from various government agencies as well as from the private sector. The relief supplies will be sent to Myanmar on Wednesday via a charter flight of Nepal Airlines Corporation.

The relief materials that the Nepal government is sending weighs 41 tons and is worth Rs 24.7 million, according to the Home Ministry. Earlier this evening, Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak inspected the humanitarian aid warehouse at Tribhuvan International Airport and called for support of all in providing all possible assistance during disasters.

A powerful earthquake measuring 7.7 on the Richter scale struck Myanmar on March 28. It may be noted that Myanmar had also provided assistance to Nepal during the devastating earthquake that struck Nepal in 2015.#nepal #Myanmar #rss
