Kathmandu, Sept 18: The ruling coalition has finalized a draft of the government’s minimum common program and handed it over to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba. The four-member working group responsible for preparing the draft submitted it during a meeting in Baluwatar on Wednesday evening.
The working group comprised Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa, Congress Spokesperson Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat, CPN UML Deputy General Secretary Pradeep Gyawali, and Bishnu Rimal. The draft, aimed at bolstering the economy and advancing youth partnership programs, is awaiting approval by the Council of Ministers and will be made public thereafter.
Prime Minister Oli responded positively, stating that the program was formed based on the seven-point agreement between the Nepali Congress and the CPN-UML. He emphasized that this is not merely a common program but a resolution reflecting the joint policy commitments of the two major political parties.
Oli further highlighted that the relations with neighboring countries and key priorities of his party were integral to the program. He noted that the Congress and UML, as architects of the constitution, bear the primary responsibility for its protection. The program includes proposals for constitutional amendments aimed at strengthening federalism, democracy, the republic, and inclusivity. #nepal #CMP
