Govt decides to continue lockdown till April 27

Kathmandu:

The government has decided to continue nationwide lockdown till April 27 in order to contain the spread of coronavirus. The meeting of the Council of Ministers held at Prime Minister’s residence, Baluwatar, took this decision today.

It is the third time the government extended the lockdown period to avoid the crisis.

Sharing information about the Cabinet decision, Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Dr Yubaraj Khatiwada, has said the lockdown period was extended as there was still the spread of pandemic in the country.

The decision was taken also in view of the practice adopted by the neighouring countries to stay safe from the virus.

“For the safety of everyone living in Nepal, the closure of international border and open borders has also been continued.

Anyone not following the stay-home order will be taken action legally,” he underscored.

He also thanked all Nepalis for abiding by the government decisions made for the control and prevention of the coronavirus, which is for the protection of people’s lives. The government also made some transfers of joint secretaries. —
