Govt not willing to implement NHRC recommendation: chair Sharma

Dhulikhel, Dec 24, 2019 : Chairman of National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Anup Raj Sharma has said that the government was interested in implementing the recommendations made by the NHRC.

Speaking at the concluding session of a three-day seminar on Human Rights and Journalism here today, chair Sharma shared that only 12 per cent recommendations were addressed.  

He added that the government was not found interested in filing cases against the Army in conflict era cases. 

Chairman Sharma however said that such recommendations made by Human rights commission are being implemented up to 96 per cent in neighboring India. 

Human Rights Journalists Association (HURJA) Chair Ghanshyam Khadka opined for mentioning the issues of human rights in school curriculum to promote the gravity of human rights. Journalists from 13 districts of State-3 attended the seminar organised by the NHRC in collaboration with HURJA.
