Govt. releases Rs 1.41 billion to build temporary residence for quake-survivors



Kathmandu, Nov 20: The government has released Rs 1.41 billion for the building of temporary residence facility for those who were rendered homeless by the November 3 earthquake in Jajarkot district Nepal.

The money of the first tranche was released for Jajarkot, Rukum Paschim, Bajhang, Bajura and Salyan district as per the government decision, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) said.

Of the amount, Jajarkot and Rukum Paschim districts would receive Rs 500 million each, Spokesperson of NDRRMA Dhruba Bahadur Khadka said.

According to him, Rs 250 million has been allocated for Bajhang, Rs 140 million for Bajura and Rs 20 million for Salyan district.

Earlier, the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Executive Committee meeting held on November 12 had approved the Temporary Residence Construction Guidelines 2080 BS for legal facilitation to support the quake-hit people.

Khadka stated that the amount of the first tranche was released as stated by the Guidelines.

The beneficiaries would be selected and the amount would be doled out from the concerned local levels and the accounts should be managed as stated in the laws and the auditing too would be carried out.
