Govt suspends security officers involved in Balkumari firing



Kathmandu, Dec 30: The government is going to take action against those who were negligent in the incident that caused material and human damage at Balkumari in Lalitpur on Friday.

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ informed that the police officer who ordered to shoot without using other options has been suspended until the investigation is completed.

While addressing the Sixth National Trade Union Conference of the Joint Trade Union Coordination Center (JTUCC) here on Saturday, the Prime Minister Dahal has said that the Chief of the Employment Permit System (EPS) Korea Branch and personal security guard of Minister Prakash Jwala have also been suspended.

In the incident that took place on Friday at Balkumari in Lalitpur, two people were killed and the vehicle in which Minister Jwala was riding was set on fire. Some young people demonstrated that they were deprived of the Korean language test. After the demonstration turned violent, there was loss of property.

Prime Minister Dahal also said that a meeting of the Council of Ministers has decided to arrange Rs. 10 lakh each for the bereaved family as compensation.

This morning, the Prime Minister took information about the incident from Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayankaji Shrestha, Home Secretary Dinesh Bhattarai and the head of security.

The Prime Minister also informed that the incident was discussed with the ruling party.
