Kathmandu, March 31: Opposition parties in the House of Representatives (HoR), Rastriya Swatantra Party and the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), today demanded a high-level judicial investigation committee regarding an incident took place during the last Friday’s demonstration in Tinkune.
RPP Chair Rajendra Lingden expressed his sadness over the incident that resulted in the human casualties and loss of physical properties. It may be noted that photo journalist Suresh Rajak and one Sabin Maharjan from Kirtipur were killed when the demonstrations on March 28 turned violent.
Lingden demanded the State declare Rajak and Maharjan martyrs, calling for a fair investigation into the incident.
RSP acting spokesperson Manish Jha said the government could not get an excuse for the losses by putting the blame on a single party.
We condemn such anarchy and lawlessness in Tinkune on that day. But not a single party is responsible for it,” he said. There are video clips suggesting that Maharjan was fired from the backside while he was neither involved in throwing stones nor running away violating the protest norms, according to Jha.
The death of journalist Rajak is suspicious. We demand a high level probe commission regarding the incident. We wish the operation of House proceedings in a gentle and decent way. #nepal #political #rss
